Kimberly P. Mitchell is a staff photojournalist and video producer at the Detroit Free Press. She has a natural talent capturing character on film.
She took this love of photography to the University of Missouri where she received a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in sociology.
While interning at the Detroit Free Press and the San Jose Mercury News, she found a strong connection with creating socio-economic change through dynamic, story-telling photography.
She has been the recipient of several NPPA awards, including runner-up photographer of the year for Michigan in 2006.
Through her photography, she hopes to honestly reflect all of the people, events, and moments that have defined who she is and the career path she has chosen.
