Knight and Blenkinsop Outreach Workshop for Asian photographers

Gary Knight of VII and Philip Blenkinsop of Noor are holding a workshop for Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, and Nepalese nationals in Rajasthan from the 11th to the 16th February, 2009.

There are 20 to 25 places available on the course.

This is a masterclass photography workshop designed specifically for photographers from the Indian subcontinent. We are conscious of the fact that there are many photographers in the developing economies without the resources to interact or study with the wider photographic community, this dispatches outreach program hopes to reach a small part of that audience.

We have tried to keep the costs as low as possible and in doing so every participating photographer will be responsible for his or her own accommodation, transportation, meals and all other expenses. The fee is for tuition only. The group dinner on the last night is included in the workshop fee.

The group will meet on the evening of the 11th February at the workshop base in Jaipur and finish with a group dinner and presentation of the week’s work on the evening of the 16th February.

The aim of the Masterclass is to develop a single body of work during the course of the week. You will be expected to come to the workshop ready to challenge old ideas, break new ground, and to re-evaluate the way in which you see and execute visual storytelling. You will be expected to have researched your subject and be ready to hit the ground running on day one. Each photographer is expected to be able to show the tutors either digital files or prints at the end of each day for the daily editing session.

In addition to regular critique and assistance with the development of your story by Gary and Philip, there will be projections and discussions on photography with the tutors.

Registration

The workshop has a minimum requisite of 20 students — if registration is under 20 the masterclass will be cancelled and payments refunded.
