Born and raised in NYC (1971), Kristoff Capa has been a member of the Fire Department of New York since May 2001 and has been documenting the world around him for the past twenty years.
He studied photography and sculpture at the International Center of Photography and the School of Visual Arts. His work in photography has focused on portraiture, and he is interested in both spontaneity and artifice, a snapshot that both gives an intimate sense of who a person is and points out the performative aspects at play.
Currently he is pursuing more in-depth photo essays on diverse social, cultural and political issues. His work experience is an asset in stressful situations and dangerous environments, invaluable elements of photojournalism.
