Leaving Perpignan

Hi-

Everyone here seems to have a wealth of knowledge about train times transportation. Anyone know what time the earliest train leaves Perpignan for a return to Barcelona, either direct or via Cerbere? I have a 1pm flight out of Barcelona and am trying to figure out if I can leave in the morning. Thanks for any insights.

There used to be (in 2006) a non-stop train at something like 8:30 a.m. from Perp to Des Sants in Barcelona. If that still runs (I’ll bet it does), you will get there in plenty of time for the 1 p.m. flight.

As Neal said, earliest train to leave Perp to Barcelona leaves at 8:29.
Problem is it won’t get you in Barcelona STS ’til 12:46…

You need to leave the day before… or, hop on a bus:

Olivier,

If I recall the train barcelona-perpigan is about 4 hours total. it seems the bus to girona and then a train to barcelona airport is only about 2.5 or 3 hours. does that seem right or am i reading something wrong?

Departure (vs total time) is what poses a problem.
Again, the 8:29 train arrives at 12:46, so this is not going to work for you.

You’ll need to work your itinerary using frogbus and train/subway schedules, allowing for changes and such.

Roughly:
-Frogbus takes 90"
-Gerona to Barc adds 1H20
-Subway from Sants to Airport another 20mn…

It is all here in front of you:

According to my search on www.sbb.ch, the earliest train from Perpignan to Barcelona leaves at 8:57 am, arriving in Barcelona Sants at 11:46am. You might make your flight, depending on the punctuality of the train and your change to the subway to the airport.

I don`t read Spanish, so I cannot make a search on renfe.es.

Thanks for the advice and information. The bus and train can do it. Thanks again.

Using the above site, I was able to confirm my search on other online railway sites that there is a direct train from Perpignan at 8:57am, arriving in Barcelona Sants at 11:46am. Since this train does not involve the changing of trains, it should be noted by those who are heading back to Barcelona from Perpignan.

Good advice Joao.

David another little problem assuming you are leaving Sunday morning is SUNDAY morning. Things are liable to slow down or shut down in France and Spain.

I suggest you ask around during your stay in Perpignan and see if anyone is driving to Barcelona the day of your flight.

There’s an 8h57 train out of Perp that gets into Barcelona Sants at 11h46. 2nd class = 34 Euros

Sorry. That train doesn’t run on Sundays.
