left eyed leica
|
Would anyone buy one if i invented it? Does anyone else feel a little bit ripped off that all cameras are designed for people who shoot with their right eye? Everyone knows that left handed and left eyed people are more creative!

Kodak did one left handed camera in the fifties.
|
I shoot my M3 with my right eye. Its no big deal. I think you can get corrective eyes peices for the newer Ms
|
can you learn to shoot with the camera inverted?
|
And to answer your question, yes, some people would buy it, but not enough of them to make back your stupid investment.

I’m right-handed and left-eyed and I actually like the way rangefinders position on my head. If the viewfinder were on the other side of the camera, my hand would be up against my nose….unless you switched the side the shutter release was on, then it would be useless to me.

left eyed Leica users should consider one of the following:
1) Leicavit film advance, or its off-brand version, Abrahmson Rapidwinder (www.rapidwinder.com)
2) the M Motor.
this way, the camera stays at your left eye, and your right hand shoots while your left advances the film below. No need to move the camera away from your face for your right thumb to advance the film.
well worth it.

i used my left eye (I’m blind in my right eye) when im looking through lens…never had a problem…
the world looks brilliant compensated for those people who think/make/manufacture things for the “rest of the world” ;)))))…or maybe that’s what makes the work odd :)))…
now, if they made the body for less than a year’s worth of my salary, i’d be in :)))
cheers

us lefties seem to be left to fend for ourselves, i reckon.
honestly, no pun intended.
i think on leicas, ben, you might be able to just get one of those viewfinder deals on top of the camera. sorry, i use canon so i haven’t a clue to what they’re called. but since it’s above the body, you’d be able to open your right eye and be just fine? plus, they can be used to give frame lines for certain lens’, i believe?
once i buy my future m7, i’ll probably know a bit more than nothing.

When shooting at really low shutter speeds, I will intentionally use my left eye to help brace the camera. Nose, brow and cheek bone.
|
its not really about hand dominance,
i always shot left eyed with slr’s but shoot right eyed with a rangefinder. although i switch back to my left eye when shooting verticals, its all about resting against the face without nasal interference.
