Leonardo Wen is a Brazilian independent photographer specialized in documentary photography, photojournalism, portrait, corporate and video. He’s now based in Rio de Janeiro.
Nowadays he collaborates with foreign media such as Sipa Press (French photo agency), NRC Handelsblad and Volkskrant (both Dutch daily newspapers) and El País (Spanish newspaper). His major Brazilian clients are Abril, Globo and Trip Editorials, the three main local magazine publishers.
He has worked as a staff photojournalist for Folha de S.Paulo, the most influential Brazilian newspaper, where he still collaborates. He has also worked as a video cameraman for the Spanish producer Maresia TV, filming and editing news and documentaries.
His main academic achievements include a scholarship from the European Union to study a Master in documentary photography at the London College of Communication (2008). He also lived in Madrid, Spain, studying and working for EFE news agency as a photographer and journalist (2011).
Apart from his editorial work, Leonardo Wen has also been developing his personal projects in photography. In 2008 he released his first book, “MetaBrasília”. In 2011 he released a second one called “Apto – the modern housing of Brasília”. Both of them are about his hometown and were sponsored by the local government.
