Ok, I’ll start then i guess. I live in the beautiful city of Rotterdam, The Netherlands(that’s in Europe). I’m currently enrolled in a Journalism bachelor and I’ll be starting my last year in september. Hopefully I’ll go on studying Photography next year to broaden my skills. I’m doing my first (writing)internship at a local paper and in december I hope to start my final internship at the ANP (dutch version of AP) for my photojournalism internship. Besides photography I enjoy reading(history, politics),movies, food, beer and music. I love to travel. I want to go to Eastern Europe (Prague, Budapest) and Moskow in the near future.
My dream is to travel the world and shoots spot news and reportage stuff. I shoot with a Nikon D70 and I’m saving for some new gear at the moment. I have a website: www.rutgherpruijm.com
Well that’s all, feel free to contact me by email or MSN if you want to talk.
With kind regards

Hey there. I live is Des Moines, Iowa (USA). For the past ten years, I have been retouching/correcting photos from other people, and just a couple of years ago, I started to enroll part-time in a community college here. The top-notch professor was really passionate about photography, and I was hooked right away. I never considered photojournalism until I heard a news story on the radio about the continued misery in New Orleans, and decided to go there to shoot, and try to spread the word to people at home.
Iowa right now is a hot bed of politics since we are the first caucus state for the 2008 Presidential campaign. I am shooting candidates as often as I can.I am also going to attend the Mountain Workshops in October.
I too love beer (anyone ever have Tetley’s? It’s a creamy English Ale that’s fantastic),movies and music. I have a wife, but no kids. I would love to shoot in depth pieces that can be used to help raise awareness, and possibly help the people I meet.
I shoot with a Canon Rebel XT (it arrived the day the XTi was announced). My next purchase may eventually be the new D40 just announced, or I might save my pennies for the MarkIII.

Hi everyone,
My name is Sean Donnelly, I am a senior at California College of the Arts in Oakland/San Francisco, CA. I am currently an intern for Lauren Greenfield and look forward to a newspaper internship in the fall. I also love surfing and talking politics. I think this could be a great forum for critiques and networking. Because I am in a fine arts curriculum, I am always interested in more journalastic feedback. I’m new to lightstalkers, can we post images in forums for critiques?

Sean -
I think that posting individual pictures might get a bit tiresome for this group. If you have a series, you can post a link and see what people think.

it is nice to see that there are some active people here.
I also realised that i havent told you anything about myself, so here we go:
My name is Milos Djuric, i was born in `87 in the east part of Berlin, Germany. I am currently preparing myself to move to Hannover in order to study Photojournalism there… which actually means that i am now quite busy finding a flat and a job and stuff like that.
I have been working on several storys lately, and some things also got published in a local newspaper… but if i think about it, nothing realy worth mentioning.
My tools of the trade are a D70s (which i use most of the time), and my recently aquiered bessa r3a (gotta love rangefinders!)
When i dont shoot pictures, i read, meet with friends and do… stuff… well, yeah.

Hi there everybody, like others, I’m happy to see some activity here as well, I think that whatever discussions might come up here, this place will be a good forum in which to have them.
As for me, I’m 20 years old and from Denmark, I haven’t been taking photographs for that long, only picked up a camera occasionally until a couple of years ago when I realized that photography might be something I wanted more than just as a hobby or something to spend my spare-time doing.
I enrolled in a 6-month high school course in the start of 2007 here in Denmark, to test if photography was actually something I’d spend every day doing, and found out that it indeed was.
Last week I had my first paid ‘freelance-job’, which I actually found via the forum here at LightStalkers, job was to shoot exclusive shops, cafes, hotels and restaurants in Copenhagen, for a Turkish lifestyle magazine.
I’m not studying until 2008, so I’m trying to get all the experience I possibly can while not in school – finding a job as an assistant or similar here in Denmark isn’t all that easy though.
Oh, and Milos, happy to hear you have an R3a as well, wonderful camera!

Hello Everyone. I am a 22 year old journalism student in Logan Utah. I’ve always loved photography ever since my father gave me my first camera when I was 12. ( A Canon FTB) But only recently have I been interested in the journalism/reportage aspect of it. I’ve always enjoyed the news. I read two papers every day and listen to NPR. Yeah I know, I’m a total dork. Currently I am also shooting with the Rebel XT. A decent camera. I am saving money now to get some great glass. I am interested in long term reportage. Just like most I would love to be able to travel the world shooting images. But until then I’m working on mastering the craft locally. Which in my opinion should happen before I go out into the “real” world. I have shot a few assignments for a local weekly paper but nothing of note. I have a flickr that I update occasionally. www.flickr.com/photos/darchibald
Great to join the group and I hope it will be worthwhile and enriching for all of us.

I live in Jackson, MS, USA. My undergraduate and master’s degrees are in political science and public policy, respectively. I started making photographs about a year ago focusing primarily on concert photography and sports photojournalism. I am hoping to transition to documentary photography. Now, I’m taking photography courses and trying to work out a mentorship relationship with a couple of local photojournalists. I’ll also be seeking out workshops and seminars and would appreciate any suggestions regarding them.

I grew up all over the place, and am in Vancouver (Canada) for now.
I was studying sciences until a month or two ago when I decided I would rather be a photojournalist, have been dabbling in photography since the summer. It seems like a really quick decision, from practically no photography experience and then a little latter deciding that it will be your life but thats how it goes. While it is a poor pun, I picked up a camera and everything just clicked.
I shoot with whatever I can get my hands on and have been using a 50mm prime for most of it. When not in mono I try and get away with as much red as possible in my photos, I really love red.
I recently built a website but beyond an idea it has little content ( http://gnook.org )
Oh, and I love taking photos.
ps. I do whatever I can to avoid posed photos, I don’t like contrived images.

I live in Montreal, a city I love. I work in research ethics for a living. I am a long time street photographer. Recently began working digitally and posting on Flickr ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/12147720@N04/.I have been doing more and more candid portraiture of late and making the adjustment from shooting 28mm scenes to up close portraits. I could use some new equipment.I often take the long way home.

Hi everyone I’m Ludo Moris and I live in Belgium. My home is in the north of limburg, Hamont and my ‘dorm’ is in Hasselt, the centrum of Limburg, and I go to school in Genk, 20 kilometers from Hasselt.
I’m now in the second grade or Bachelor in photography and I’m loving every second of it, except for some schoolteachers. I’m exploring all the subcategories of photography in school, I take pictures on vacations and trips and have some projects of my own. And I also work as a partyfotographer but not yet for money, just for the fun and the experience and the experimentation.
I like to build a website soon and I want to use dreamweaver but I have no inspiration or the program to get started. I allready have some pictures uploaded on my profile here and some on deviantart and a few other sites aswel.
I have to tidy up my disc but I have no time for that as I have exams in about a month.
Wish me luck.
