Lightstalkers Get-Together Now Set at LOOK3 This Week
|
OK, it’s set…there WILL be a get-together of Lightstalkers who are attending LOOK3, the Festival of the Photograph, in Charlotteville, VA. Here is the scoop:
WHEN: Friday, June 13, 2008 (Yes, it will be Friday the 13th!) starting at 6:15 p.m. (immediately after the Insight conversation with Joel-Peter Witkin and before the Shots screenings at IX Warehouse – BTW that’s pronounced “ICKS” by the locals).
WHERE: X Lounge, 313-2nd St SE, Charlottesville, VA (434) 244-8439. This is the same place where we had this event last year.
Just show up, it’s highly informal. Look for me (old dude, grey hair, glasses).
Be there or be square!

Oh dear, it’s another year of squarishness for me, and here I was hoping I could stay put and become a parallelogram, or maybe catch the rhombus to the mall for a new set of Venn diagrams to help frame my Windows Vista. Ah well, such is life, I suppose…

Neal, Erica have a really good time and think of me as you are enjoying the fine Charlottesville hospitality (I am sure its fine, never been there myself but I can guess…)

I won’t be there either. Bummer. Got some stuff to take care of here: scanning 10 years worth of negs and chrome. Almost done too… sigh.

Ok folks, it’s getting down to the wire and as much as I look forward to celebrating with all of you again, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I need to get to Dulles on Saturday and transportation from C’ville is complicated…very complicated. So if anyone is going and could give me a lift that would be grand! I’ll post separately also.

Also, if anyone is around to share a ride or offer a ride into town/toward the dorms..from the Amtrak station in Charlottesville on Wednesday night around 8:45 pm..let me know..I’ll be traveling with 1 other person..thanks!

Thanks, Brendan. I just heard that LOOK3 really may be sold out, the main constraint being how many people can and will show up at the Paramount each night for the photographer projections and the interviews by Alex Chadwick (Mary Ellen Mark and Joel-Peter Witkin) and by MaryAnne Golon (Jim Nachtwey). I’m not sure how you work around that as it seems like there’ll be plenty of space at the projections and dancing party at IX Warehouse on Friday and at the Pavilion show on Saturday night, though.
