About

I was born in London, but followed my surname to Russia in 2000 to set up shop as a freelance photograper. I had my first exhibition “East of Peckham” in the Centenary Gallery, South London, in 2004.

I am based in Moscow, shooting features and news for European and U.S. newspapers and magazines, but travel regularly around the former Soviet Union and the Middle East. I also have ongoing projects in Ukraine and the North Caucusus.

Visa for Syria

I’m about to set off on a last minute trip to Syria at the end of the week.

I’m British flying from Moscow. The Syrian Embassy here in Moscow are giving me conflicting advice about whether i need a visa or can get one at Damascus airport when i arrive there in the middle of the night.

I had no problem getting a visa at the land border with Lebanon earlierr this year.

Has anyone got a visa at the airport before? I’d rather avoid getting a visa here if possible.
