Macbook Pro & Colorsync utility problems

I have a Macbook Pro and an Apple Cinema Display. Both screens have been calibrated using a Spyder 3 from Datacolor. The calibrations look okay and when I go to System Preferences > Monitors, both of my profiles show up as those being used for the screens. All well and good except for the fact that, when I open Colorsync Utility, NO profiles appear in the “monitors” section (not even the factory default one). Any ideas? And is this serious anyway? I’m nto sure if Colorsync Utility has a purely descriptive function or if it actually affects how colour is managed.
All answers very welcome!

Yes, I know Wikipedia… If only it were that simple!

Anyone? Ideas? I’ve still got the problem and I can’t find help anywhere…
