Photography for (Positive) Change

Last year I self published a book called, UNSUNG (www.unsung.in). The book is about 9 Indians who have made extraordinary contributions to communities against great personal odds. I worked on it for over 4 years and had the unstinted support of writer/journalist Anita Pratap (www.anitapratap.com)

I managed to sell 2900 copies at a special pre publication price to several Indian corporations to raise money for the project. In the last few months I have pushed out another 1000 copies via bookstores.

The good news is that the book is is making a difference to the people featured in it.

Chewang Norphel makes artificial glaciers in Ladakh. He was was recognised as a ‘True Hero” by CNN-IBN, a top Indian news channel. They are also one of the main sponsors of this project. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs.500000/- (USD 11900/). The army commander of Leh who saw this on TV now has come forward to sponsor an artificial glacier at the cost of Rs.1400000/ (USD33000/-) under the “Sadbhavana” (Goodwill) scheme of the Indian army.
