Hi Jodi
You can find good second hand Mamiya 6’s. I brought one approx 1 year ago which was hardly used. I suggest you try the Japanese market as they are generally better looked after.
There is not much that can go wrong with the camera. If you have the budget try & get the wide lense as well.

I have 2 bodies and all 3 lenses. Great camera. Keep in mind that Mamiya is no longer in the camera business and repairs will be tough to get done. I found the 50mm lens is a far more useful and better lens than the standard 75mm lens.
Good luck in your search!

Jodi, ‘KEH.com’ is worth a look. I don’t know what it takes shipping stuff across the pond but maybe a LS heading that way could bypass VAT or whatever might get tacked on. KEH has 2 cameras with 75mm and the are both under $1400 in EX cond. They also have cameras and lenses seperatly. best -rad

Hi there, I have a Mamiya 6 and like most people agree it is a fantastic camera but be awair that it is very east to knock out the range finder. It has happened to me a couple of times and I thought I was being pretty careful. It wasn’t hard to get fixed but obviously cost a few quid. Good luck in your hunt. cheers, Mark

I have two Mamiya 6 bodies (6 and 6MF)and all three lenses. Of the three I have used the 50mm most, but I have been able to get interesting results with the 150mm coupled with a front-mounted teleconverter.
I managed to get the shutter crushed or jammed on the way to Scotland, it cost me a lot to get it fixed in the UK.
I bought all my Mamiya 6 bodies and lenses in Japan at used camera shops there.

Jodi, This maybe a long shot, but what comes to mind is the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. Often student purchase equipment, especially the medium format then sell it. I would imagine their bulletin boards are now electronic—anyway here is a link to start with: http://www.brooks.edu/stillphoto.asp I really admire and respect your work very much. Does my heart good to see your images. Wishing you continued success, Ana

I have a Mamiya 6 to sell. I can’t do anymore film. But it’s a really good camera. Mint condition.
|
I would sell my Mamiya for 800 euros with the lens.
|
I can send some pics of the Mamiya I am selling if some of you want.

Holga hey…isn’t that for kids?

The weak link is the film transport. This is always what breaks. Just wind the film slowly, not too vigorously. Good luck, it’s a great camera.
