An ArtPetron Grand Prize winner in Photography and a former contributor to Newsbreak magazine in the Philippines, Mark Lester Cayabyab harnesses the sheer visceral power of Photography in documenting the fleeting essence of time and space complemented by the distinct precision of The Word.
Cayabyab has been a passionate documentarist since his first roll of 36-exposure color film when he was the editor in chief of their award-winning English high school paper, The Leader in 1998. Along the way, he convened the PUP College of Communication’s pioneer camera club, Sinag Club, in 2002 and stood as founding editor in chief of an experimental campus paper, The CoC Forum, in 2004. As a journalism student, his images were featured in two books, one of which was authored by noted art critic Dr. Alice Guillermo.
His images captured as a professional are being used to a diverse media-oriented commercial and editorial purposes. He was a former writer and staff photographer at M2.0 Communications. Currently he is an Associate Director of DecisiveMoments, an integrated communications service provider based in Quezon City headed by veteran Filipno photojournalist Miguel Cortez.
He has just started a career in civil service as an information officer in a Metropolitan Manila local government unit.
