About
I mostly write about Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan for publications like Harper’s Magazine, the Globe and Mail, the National Post, and the Coast, among others. My last big project was a long investigative article in Harper’s Magazine where I went undercover with a group of drug-trafficking border police between Quetta and Kandahar. The US military ended up using it instead of their own intel reports (in a leftist magazine, funded by a Shell Oil ad supplement, no joke.)
I shoot my own photography, and have started to get into video and radio as well. I also have a side interest in new media and web journalism, having worked with NYU’s Jay Rosen and Studio 20.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where you can shop for military-type supplies in New York City? I’m talking MOLLE-rigged packs and helmet covers. I know there are a lot of online shops but I prefer to handle this stuff first. And yeah, the PXs in BAF or KAF are pretty good but a lot of their gear has military patterns on it which I’m not super comfortable with.
Thanks.
