About

Mery Agakhanyan was born in 1978. From 1994 to 1997 she had finished Romanos Melikyan Musical College. Contemporary from 1996 to 1999 she studied of the Free Humanitarian University in the department of metaphysic and philosophy. From 1998 she had enrolled to the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory (YSC) and in 2003 she had been graduated as musicologist.
From 2006 till now she is working in the educational institution named “Byurakn” with children from 5 to 12 years old applying her own sceneries, which includes music, painting and stage art. She performs her own works with children, among which are “A party with Mozart”, “The clown, the soldiers and the death”, “About a dragon girl and the biblical tree” with two actions, the last one was performed in 2009 on the third of March in the Puppet theater. Her occupation nowadays film industry and documentary photography.
In 2008 she took part in “One minute, one shot” festival in Yerevan, Armenia. One year later in the same festival she had been awarded by journal of CINEMART, Armenia.
With her own funds she had made sort films “The life of passed days”, “Experience one”. She is also an author of several documentary and artistic scenarios, among which are the “Autobiography”. “Who is the mad”, “The Babylon Tower”, the documentaries “How do we live?”, “Where do the bubbles go?”,
She have started shooting since 2009 in documentary photography. She is an author an essay about minorities in Armenia – “Yezidis, life and inner world”.
In 2009 she had awarded OSI Documentary Photography Project grand, the theme is: The social and economic situation of life in several villages in Armenia. /The grant supports photographers in documenting a social justice or human rights issue in Central Asia, the Caucasus, Afghanistan, and Pakistan/.
This her work in 2010 was selected for Asian women photographer’s showcase in 6-th Angkor Photo Festival.
In March 2011 –Yangon Photo Festival (Burma).
