Mike Sweet worked as a researcher and producer for BBC TV Factual Programmes in the UK in the 1990s, where his work regularly covered issues of multiculturalism, asian affairs, the arts and media. In 2000 Mike was invited to help set up the first independent terrestrial television news channel in Bangladesh. At ETV in Dhaka, Mike was Executive Producer – News and Current Affairs. From 2001, he worked as a corporates producer for NGOs, leading international businesses and government agencies in South Asia. Working out of Dhaka, Mike also produced features for the BBC World Service. Mike moved to Australia in January 2002 and spent four years working from Darwin, producing corporates and independent documentaries. In the past two years his broadcasting work has included regular commissions from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and he has written for The Australian Newspaper. He is now based in Athens, Greece, where he writes a regular column for the Athens News, and is Development Producer for UK production company Blacklion Films.
