Originally from a small town of Kontiolahti in rural eastern Finland, I moved to Scotland in 2002 to study politics and international relations. Started taking photos in 2005. Graduated from Aberdeen University in 2006. Ended up enrolling on a photojournalism course in Swansea Metropolitan University in Wales. Graduating summer 2009.

Accommodation in D.C. during inauguration week

I’m heading to Washington D.C. ( Jan 16-22) for Obama’s inauguration and I need to sort out a place to stay.

As D.C. is expecting a couple million people to hit the city to celebrate the event, finding affordable accommodation will undoubtedly be tough.

Does anyone know if there are any places in the capital area – convention centers, schools and such – which might offer cheap accommodation during the inauguration week? I’m talking very basic, mattress and a pillow on the floor type thing?
