Born in Palermo, Sicily 1975, photojournalist Mimi Mollica has been based in London since 1996. Mimi’s previous photo essays have focused on social issues and current affairs in countries including Pakistan, Northern Ireland, Sicily, Great Britain, Brazil, India, Romania and Africa. His editorial reportages have been widely published in various British and foreign publications, and exhibited in numerous solo and collective shows. Mimi was granted second place at the Observer Hodge Award 2005 for his reportage on the aftermath of the 7/7 London bombings. Mimi has been recently short listed for the Press Photographer’sYear 2007 “Assignment 2” and won the entry to the Creative Review Best Photography Annual 2007 with his work “Baobab”. In October of the same year Mimi has taken part of the first Magnum Workshop Masterclass, held in the London offices with one to one portfolio sessions tutored by Martin Parr, Mark Power and David Hurn. One of Mimi’s photographs shot in the Amazon forest has been included in the UN Calendar 2008 themed on biodiversity. Mimi’s latest work “En Route to Dakar” has been selected to be exhibited for this fall edition Festival de la Photo Social 2008 (Photsoc) in France.
