Miriam Sushman

I am a freelance photographer living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am finishing a book project on Wisconsin’s small dairy farmers – a project that I began six years ago. It has been a gratifying experience becoming friends with these farmers, watching the seasons return to the farms and getting to know a place intimately, seeing children grow up and old people die.

Before moving to Wisconsin I lived for seven years in Jerusalem and my stock subjects include; Jordan, Gaza, the West Bank, Bedouin women and religious life. The majority of my work is for non-profit organizations and newspapers.
