Kim is the 36 year old Regional Photo Editor Africa for the world’s newest global news picture agency, EPA Photos.His responsibilities include daily photo coverage, budgets, office and staff managment, assignment planning and the covering of major news, features and sports events, both in Africa and internationally.
He has recently covered the fall of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and Charles Taylor in Liberia, the aftermath of the 2005 Asian Tsunami, the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics, international rugby, MotoGP, President’s Cup golf, World Cup Swimming etc.
Kim Ludbrook is an award winning photojournalist based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He has covered assignments for leading global newspapers in addition to AP and AFP before being appointed by EPA Photo as Regional Photo Editor for Africa.
As a wire photographer he has travelled extensively in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe, his special interest is news, features and sport.
He believes in the power of the still image and is extremely passionate about story telling with a still camera.
Kim has been widely published in leading newspapers and magazines globally including: TIME, NEWSWEEK,THE NEW YORK TIMES; LIBERATION, THE TIMES, THE OBSERVER, THE TELEGRAPH, INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE, SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, MARIE CLAIRE, COSMOPOLITAN, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED etc.
He has held various personal photo exhibitions as well having work published in books and calendars and is now lecturing on photojournalism.
