Need photos of youth in Middle East
|
Hello everyone,
For the next issue of Middle East Report (published by the non-profit MERIP, www.merip.org) I need photos of youth in the Middle East. Below are the topics I need to cover.
If anyone has photos they’d like to submit, please do send me samples by email (mwoodward – at – merip – dot – org). I have one week. Deadline for high-res is next Friday, November 2nd.
Middle East Report is a quarterly magazine of analysis and in-depth coverage of the politics, economy and society of the region. We publish photos in black and white, usually at 1/2 page or larger.
Feel free to get in touch with any questions or suggestions.
Thank you!
All Middle East: Politicians/regime figures addressing youth as youth at rallies, stadiums, etc.
All Middle East: interesting photos of young people
Israel: Young soccer fans (in particular of two clubs, Beitar Jerusalem and Sakhnin)
Morocco: weddings; women’s demos, both Islamist and secular (pro- and anti-reform of personal status laws); documentary shots from rural areas
Egypt: young Muslim Brothers activist sitting at computer or some other way of depicting their activism in cyberspace
Algeria: aftermath of recent bombings; any photo evidence of GSPC (“al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghrib”); documentary shots of heavy traffic, commerce, life back to normal in Algiers areas
Dahiyya, Beirut (the southern suburbs): Kids and young people at As-Saha village restaurant, Fantasy World (amusement park along airport road), the exhibition Beit el-Ankabout in Rweiss (“spider’s house” exhibit, made to celebrate the “divine victory”), Beirut mall by Tayyouneh roundabout, or internet cafes.

Michelle, I have sent you a PM with some images of Syrian youth. Beside theses images, I also have pictures of the Syrian president and his most influential ministers, but not in a situation with kids. Let me know if I can help you further.
Best,
Miguel.

Thank you everyone for sending photos. I’m a bit inundated by all the responses, happily, but it means I might take a couple days to get back to you all (and the many who sent private messages) individually.
best,
Michelle

I’m sending a link from my internet site
http://www.lorenzotugnoli.com/Iran/Children/Children01.html
you can find part of my work about young people in Iran
I worked also in Lebanon and I have picture about young people and the nightlife over there and I widely covered the opposition protests in downtown Beirut ruled from Hezbollah party in mid december 2006. A lot of young people were in the steets to protest and I made a B/W story about the people living in the tents in downtown Beirut.
In my internet site you can find only the story about Iran. But if you are interested in seeing the others I can send you some pictures.
Let my know if you are interested.
Best
