Nice work, really nice work. Good use of form and color. I think the Nagorno story is the best of the bunch.

Narayan,

I enjoyed looking at your new work. I liked in particular three photos in Abkhazia. However, I have a problem with your setting of the size of the window, thus the images. They are too big for my browser, and I have to move up and down to see the entire image.

hey narayan.. i’d love to catch up.. i just took a quick look at your new site.. you know i dig your images… i think the strongest set is Nagorno Karabakh.. but I really like them all.. but since I can’t spend much more time really looking at the edit now, here’s a few things I noticed overall:

the site doesn’t fit on my 15” Mac.. slightly too big. maybe you already know and don’t care.. fair enough..

Some grammatical stuff:

Under Abkhazia, the third sentence reads, “However, country in the world…” I think you might mean “no country…”?

Under Northern Cyprus, I think you need a comma in ”... modern parts(,) basic community…”

Under Transdniestra, “Supreme Soviet…” what? I might space the wording so that “hole” isn’t left out there all by itself at the end.

Under Nagorno Karabach, the second to last sentence is a bit long and elusive for me.. but that could just be me!

I might reconstruct some sentences to cut down on commas.. I want to glide through the text without the bumps that commas create.

The layout confused me at first, “Lands in Limbo” is so big and bold, that I didn’t quickly get that the primary pics and travel pics were separate categories.

I really like your ‘logo’.. you don’t see that much in the pj world..

In all, I love this project of yours.. it’s very ambitious and it enlightened me…

I gotta get back to work now, just wanted to drop a few (hopefully) constructive bits your way…

best,
lance

narayan, dude, Abkhazia, frames 1, 2, 11, 16, the composition is stellar. and it just keeps going.

only problem is that the text on the page for Travel and stuff doesn’t imply clicking. i thought it wasn’t clickable. maybe i’m slow tonight, but perhaps having them represented by icons or highlight-able or something might make it more obvious.

oh, and the size issue was the same for me, on a 15” mbp.

i have a mate going to istanbul next month, might ask a favor? pm.

yeah, the size is an issue but it’s not my main concern.

Lance, thanks for the lookout on grammar and syntax, I will try and fix that this weekend.

thanks for the input.

I just want to add that my favorites in Abkhazia are frames 5, 12, and 25.

thanks Tomoko, it’s kind of you to say.

You are welcome, Narayan.

While the images are good, you need to present them so that Google will index the textual content of your webpage. Read this

Flash presentations never get indexed in Google. Your Soundslide is embedded in html, but html does not have any text. Perhaps you can put your opening text now as part of the slide to the body of the html. Then you create a link to the slideshow. This way you have the text which will be indexed and the link is also noted by Google.

Also your “work” html file should have a good concrete title. You are not even saying photographs. At the least the title of the file should be descriptive in that it might say perhaps “Photographic Works by Narayan Mahon.” Each of your png files should have a descriptive title and you might add some descriptive text in alt tags. Alt tags are indexed. It is not that hard to learn the basic html to write this file entirely on your own, rather than relying on some template. This way your works will draw people to your site, rather than your name.
