hi, jasmine. i don’t know anyone in new zealand, but i’ve a friend in melbourne if that helps. a link to his page and the contact page on his agency’s site. not sure what the job is, so not sure if he’s appropriate, but if you think he might be and have trouble getting through to him through his agency, let me know. —michael.

Jasmine, I’m sure you checked out the Member Directory already, but here’s a tip for anyone who’s not already aware…

Example:

This is where the site can be useful—photographers who maintain profiles are easy to find by editors with regional assignments. So keep them up-to-date, kids…

Also, if you’re an editor, recommend to your network of photographers, writers, etc that they sign up with Lightstalkers. It’ll make them that much easier to find next time you’re looking.

Hi Shinji,

Thanks for the tip! I searched New Zealand in the keyword box and got no results, so figured there wasn’t anyone there. Didn’t even think to check out the member directory. D’oh, as they say!

The directory is a great resource, I’ll definitely encourage photogs to sign up and use it!

thanks again,
jasmine

I looked under Oceania and saw 3 photographers in New Zealand, but after looking at profile 145 days on average since last log on. I believe I saw one with a personal home page, and may actually live there. You may want to check it out again if you need someone there.

Bit late now, but I was doing a lot of photography in NZ in May-July, and I know a photographer or two there, if you want a contact?

Hi Jasmine…

I’m based in Christchurch, in New Zealand’s South Island.  I’ve lived in various locations around NZ and am very familiar with this beautiful country – what were you looking for?

I look forward to your reply.

hey all, on the Member Directory note - It’s been mentioned to me by photo editors that it is sometimes harder  to track photographers, because of all the variations of spellings and names of certain places. For example, in the directory, there are about ten variations of "Brooklyn" alone.

spelling, uppercase/lowercase, mispelling, etc, etc, all llead to confusing  location listings.

For those of you who do want to be more  tfindable, you might want to adjust your locations a bit, and try to use the most common names and spellings.

One way we tried to help out with this was to add the "nearest airport" slot, but even there, some people use uppercase, some lower case…so we have JFK, and jfk, etc.

when it gets into locations with political issues, it gets even trickier -
ie kosovo v. kosova, Derry v. Londonderry, etc.

one suggestion, you can use the keywords field to list multiple variations for geography (also specialties, like "portraits", "news", etc. or whatever else works)

so for example, if you live in Pristina, however you decide to spell it, or whatever country you consider to be a part of you could add keywords like:

"pristina, prishtina, kosovo, kosova, yugoslavia, serbia, greater albania, FYR,FRY, balkans, southern europe", etc…

hope that helps.
