new website
Brian, Finding it difficult to pick fault with your site, only wish there was more images, could sit here for hours browsing work like yours! stunning, pin sharp single portraits and great stories – especially Khagendra – awsome. Great portfolio of work, thanks for sharing.

Great perspectives; very different and as Jason said: sharp.
I would try to add more stories, but I know how difficult that can be once a website is designed.
|
maybe it would be a good idea to add captions… please do so. i dont just want to look at images, i want to understand them but beside that, i am realy impressed by some of the images, great work!
|
Brian, great work and the site fits it very well. I think captions are key, though.
|
Mesmerizing work, so please continue to click away…as far as technically i do want to see the captions(on singles) and an intro(small) on photo-stories, so i can understnad the images better. Maybe even adding a thumbnails section would work for you. If someone needs to jump to a certain image. Since i can see that the website is more than just your Portfolio and almost serves as an image bank that you are building up on. So once the images start to pour in, you would need some sort of organization and quick accessibility and i feel smaller thumbnails would add to the dynamics (especially if you have long photo-essays or portraiture). Again the decision is yours so do judge for yourself and work on it. Happy Clicking till then…

really brilliant!
I agree that I would like the option to have captions on all your images, maybe the roll over method would be good so they aren’t distrupting the visual on first sight.
With regard to tightening it up, I did find that some of the portraits or places weren’t completely necessary for me after going through all the other images.
I too love the story on Khagendra.
It’s great to see work that clearly shows your love of shooting as well as the story itself.

Stunning… I especially love your portraits. They have the Mc Curry feel to them… with something extra. Like the man pulling on his cigarette and the glowing embers in #6, the boys smiling at the fire in #7, or in #21 the boys pinkie. I won’t go through the whole set, but whether it is an facial expression, great facial features or some little item (prop), there is something that stands out in each of them. For me, it is those little things. Love it.
But, I think that most of the shots in the “places” folder didn’t fit in with the edginess of your other folders. As beautiful as those shots are, they don’t belong. A bit of a let down.
I agree with a need for captioning and thumbnails. The thumbnails, or as Erica suggested, the roll-over method, will allow for a quick way to search for shots with out having to scroll through an entire folio. I do like uncluttered websites without flashy graphics and you’ve achieved that. It is, after all, about your shots. Nicely done.
I really look forward to seeing more stories and pics.

Great photos. For the stories I would prefer a little introductions and portraits need to have the name. Portraits without names are for me more like street-photography.

Get a preloader man. A PRELOADER. Waiting for each image to load is no good.
|
M. Rubenstein, your site is even slower. WTF?
|
site wont load for me with safari 2.0.4 (419.3) under osx 10.4.10 on a powerbook g4
|
Very nice all the way around, Brian, super fast load. Safari 3.0.3 (522.12.1) MacBook 2.16 GHz
Although some want (individual?) captions, it doesn’t bother me. Nice to just see visuals only, for once. And for fast promo, words tend to slow that down sometimes. Something to think about anyway, I guess….. you can always use a hover but the rhythm, rhyme and reason would be forever changed.

Micheal R., your website is now loading normally… might of been a glitch in the system.
|
Brian, site works great on firefox, I do agree with adding some text to your portfolio’s. My sincere compliments on the excellence of your photography, appreciated seeing your work. Kind Regards, Pete

I had no problem with the site loading (using latest version of Safari on a G5).
I love your photographs, especially the portraits … amazing colours!
If I had to make a suggestion it might be to add an autoplay option. And as others have said, more stories. Other than that, great!
