Newswear
I use the poaches, very nice, much tougher than the Domke ones…also, you can order online easily and Wesley Bocxse sends you the stuff by cargo very quickly. (Newswear is made in Mexico, not too far from you…)... B.

The pouches are tough, well-designed, well-made. Just watch out for those loops; the singed ends rub on clothing and wear the fabric thin and unsightly. I had to make a shield of thick paper wrapped in duct tape to stop it from making a big hole on the front of my pants.

I’ve used a NewsWear chest vest for about 3 years now, wouldn’t be without it. Being able to move, climb, run, etc. with your gear always at hand and not falling off your shoulder is worth everything. Apparently it makes for a handy prop in photo illustrations, too:

Fort Worth was probably not ready for Newswear. I know I’d hesitate wearing it around here. LOL.

The vests are great but not something you would like to wear in a large city full of people. For example how long would you think you would survive wearing one in the London Tube? The La Hora photo illustration says it all.
Here in Managua they are the best thing to come along since sliced bread.

I use the Newswear Chestvest and ThinkTank system. Both are good products and each has their place. The ChestVest is great when you’re getting in and out of cars a lot (like covering a political candidate) but it is really hot and doesn’t “breathe” very well, so in Phoenix, where the summer time temps are around 50 C, I don’t use it very much, but when it gets cooler out (like right now) it gets used a lot more. The ThinkTank stuff is better built and more comfortable in hot weather, but not as comfortable when you are driving around all day.
