Nicolette van Doorn

Her works begins with the observation of the imprint of time and live on things. From there on she lets herself be led by the secret narrative of the visible. Daily objects and situations are translated into symbols that express her thoughts and fascinations, creating temporary worlds in shades of gray.
Obsessed with time’s processes, with memory and la condition humaine, she moves through unknown places, unfamiliar memories, where they speak to her of dreams, melancholy , pain and the daily striving.

Her black and white photos are taken with medium format cameras, developed and printed in her home based dark room. Unedited, Uncropped, Untouched scenes. Current projects: Via Cristalina, glass reflections/transparencies.

She also started working with various plastic and older cheap cameras, using colour filters, expired film and tape.

Born and raised in Smalltown, The Netherlands. Master in Arts from the University of Amsterdam. Lives and works in Spain.|

Su trabajo empieza en la sobría observación de la impresión
del tiempo y la vida sobre las cosas y de allí se deja llevar por la narrativa secreta de lo visible. Objetos cotidianos y situaciones se convierten en símbolos, metáforas que expresan sus pensamientos y fascinaciones, creando mundos temporales en tonos de gris.
Obsesionada con los procesos del tiempo, con la memoría y la condición humana, ella recorre lugares y recuerdos no suyos, y allí le cuentan sueños, melancolía, frustración, dolor, e la pequeña lucha diaria. Le asombra la impresión del tiempo y de la vida en las cosas y objetos.
Nació en los Paises Bajos, actualmente vive en Madrid.
Las fotos de blanco y negro se hicieron con una camera de medio formato y fueron imprimidas y reveladas manualmente por la fotógrafa.
