About

I graduated from Princeton University, where I studied international policy and the Near East, in 2010. Since then I worked for the Committee to Protect Journalists in New York and Turkey and as a researcher for a book project on Iranian nuclear diplomacy. I’m based in New York but have spent time living in Iran, Iraq, and Turkey, and will be entering Columbia University’s PhD Sociology program in Fall 2011.
I’ve contributed occasionally with writing and photos to PBS Frontline: Tehran Bureau and the Austrian magazine Profil, and have had my photos exhibited and auctioned in Princeton, New York, and London.

Kabul living expenses

I’m writing up a university grant proposal for a research project in Kabul and they want a budget of projected expenses. Any advice on how much I should pencil in for
1) lodging at a guest house in Kabul for 3 months (if there are cheaper options I’m all ears)
2) payment for a fixer/Pashto translator (they need not speak English, just Dari is fine, which maybe means lower rates?) for 2-3 days/week for 3 months
much appreciated,
Noah
