NOLA
Hi Victor, I’m checking with a couple of contacts to see if anyone can help you. You might check www.hostels.com, as well. That’s what I generally do when I’m looking for a cheap place to stay when I’m working somewhere. Apparently, at least one of the hostels down there has re-opened. As long as they’ve got a place to lock up your gear… Will get back to you if I hear about anything else in the meantime. Hope you’re well. John

Try the Wyndham its $190 a night,

$190???? yikes. I went to NOLA on short notice during the Thanksgiving week. Everything was sold out (used by FEMA and contractors) or simply closed. I stayed in www.innonbourbon.com (it’s a Ramada hotel) which was about $109 per night. I think it was a lot, but the city is very expensive to begin with. I booked the room online thru hotels.com or Orbitz. Try all the on-line services and call the major chains. Unfortunately all the cheap motels type are closed. The other hotels on Canal street where most people are staying are $190 range. there is no life outside French Qrtrs, see if you can stay on the other side of the river, I think it is called Algier. good luck.

I’m not sure if they’re open but check out the India House hostel at 504.821.1904; oct 2k4 it was $15 a night.
