ART BY THE FERRY FESTIVAL Will Celebrate Arts & Culture in Staten Island in June
Staten Island, New York, March 10, 2008—The Staten Island Creative Community, the Council on the Arts and Humanities for Staten Island (COAHSI), and ArtLab are joining with businesses to celebrate arts and culture in Staten Island with Art by the Ferry Festival on Saturday, June 14; Sunday, June 15; and Saturday, June 21. Art by the Ferry Festival will be run over the course of two weekends and will feature art works and events in spaces provided by local real estate companies—Gateway Arms Realty Corp. and Casandra Properties—and St. George Theatre. On Saturday, June 21, Art by the Ferry Festival will combine forces with Make Music NY, a live, free musical celebration that takes place across the five boroughs and is sponsored by Time Out New York and AM New York.
The Staten Island Creative Community, COAHSI, and ArtLab are forming collaborations with real estate companies, restaurateurs, and the St. George Theatre for Art by the Ferry Festival and for future promotions in tourism. Plans for Art by the Ferry include a map, PR materials, and flags to draw people off the ferry into an attractive, engaging, interactive neighborhood festival.
All artists (musicians, visual artists, dancers, performance artists, and spoken word) from all neighborhoods are invited to participate and are encouraged to attend an organization meeting on April 15 at 7:30pm at the Unitarian Church (312 Fillmore Street, at the corner of Clinton Avenue). For more information on Make Music NY, go to makemusicny.org. For more information on Art by the Ferry Festival, contact Racquel Cornali at 718-447-3329 or rcornali@statenislandarts.org.
