Brooklyn Photo Salon is seeking emerging photographers based in the NYC area who are available to present their photographic work on communities in conflict at our next photo salon. We interpret this to include conflicts between countries, ethnic groups, neighborhoods as well as battles against forces like gentrification, drugs etc. If possible, we would like to show work from under-reported areas of the nation and world. We are always searching for more representation from women photographers. If any of you have suggestions of photographers who you think would be appropriate, please pass on their names, website and contact info to brooklynphotosalon@gmail.com.
If selected, the photographer would present their work for 30-40 minutes at the next salon in late November or early December. We are not able to offer a stipend at this time, however the salons are always well attended, good for networking and community building.
The Brooklyn Photo Salon showcases the work of emerging and established photographers through quarterly community gatherings. Regine “Gigi” Romain and Jennifer Pritheeva Samuel founded and curate the salon to promote inter-generational dialogue on photography, build a supportive community and advance the craft.
