One night in Chennai

Any recommendations for places to stay in Chennai (Madras)?
I always end up in some awful hotel there and would like to find a decent place to stay for next month. Thank you. Tiane

New Woodlands is good, close to the beach

Yeah, Ive stayed in a few marginal no star hotels there myself. I guess its impossible to get away from the dogs barking all night.

I am not sure this place has a long term rate.

thanks Nayan and Paul. I should have mentioned that I am looking for a cheap hotel for a few nights. I know, cheap and nice is not so common in Chennai…

tiane; good to hear that you are still fighting the good fight i.e. looking for those amazing deals in indian overnight lodgings :) if you find something do let us all know. when are you back in paris is my real question ? :)

Tiane, take an auto rickshaw or taxi to Egmore railway station, and a stone’s throw away, you’ll find at least three hotels that are GOOD and cheap, by which I mean Rs. 1000 per night or under for an A/C room. I recommend “Nest Inn”. Egmore station is within 10 minutes from Mount Road and Marina Beach.
