Jean Chung’s second book on sexual violence in the DR Congo has been published in South Korea on Oct. 7, 2008. The Korean title is “My Name is Tears.” She will also have a solo exhibit in conjunction with Women’s Forum 2008 at the Sheraton Hotel Vista Hall in Seoul, South Korea at the end of October. There will be a silent auction and the bid amount will be donated to the hospitals and NGOs that help Congolese and Rwandan women.
Best regards,

You may want to reconsider the title “trail of tears” as it already has a significant meaning and context to a historical event, as an Oklahoman it seems a very poor choice for the title of a story not related to the relocation of Native Americans from their homeland. Just something to consider.

Thank you, Paul. Yes we know the history behind the title.
There were few candidates but after all we decided “Trail of Tears” that still echo what photographer wanted while providing an immediate connection to historical events on the other side of the world. Unfortunately some of the most horrific and terrible aspects of world history seem to repeat themselves from time to time, but I know it is all our hope that by illuminating the realities of war, poverty, and disaster we can help others to learn from these histories and encourage everyone to work for future change.
Best regards,
youme.

Jean Chung’s another solo exhibit in South Korea — titled “A Photographer in Kabul,” a roadshow of the first exhibit here as a part of the first book launching with the same name. The opening is this coming Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Best,
youme.
