Perpignan questions

Hey all,

I know the dates for Perpignan are Sep. 2nd to the 17th- but aren’t there four or five days in particular that everybody shows up?

Also, does anyone know of a place that still has rooms (I know that one’s a long shot)?

scott; the festival runs from the 2nd through the 17th but it is the ‘professional week’ which this year runs from the 4th of september to the 10th of september when everyone turns up. that is also the week that you will now find all hotels are booked for. i suggest that you look for shares, which is what i intend to do this year. otherwise an option is to rent a car and stay at some places near perpignan, preferably near the beautiful coastline :) since it is towards the end of the tourist season it is easier to find rooms in neighboring villages and towns. best. asim

I am told that a strategy that avoids renting a car may be to stay at Canet Plage, a central beach town about 5-6 miles from Perp. The key is that, at least for some of the year, there is a regular bus running between Canet and Perp. I don’t know how often and how late in the evening the bus runs. Also, since September is somewhat off-season, the rents may be lower. If this is attractive, I suggest that you check with a Canet hotel or office of tourism to determine whether this works for you.

We decided to bite the bullet and rent a car so we could stay in a chambre de hote place in the countryside.

Thanks all, I think I found a couch… but instead of a car, may I suggest: http://www.motoespana.com/

The motos look like fun, and tug at my heart strings (I sold my bike to buy camera equipment). But – yikes! – the prices are outta sight! My rental car from Hertz is only about 25 euros per day (less fun, more economical). But, of course, it is not a BMW.

Neal, it’s double the price of the hostel. Ok, I was looking for low budget :p
