photo book portfolios--HELP!
|
Hello lovely lightstalkers folk.
I am putting together a photo book/presentation of my work…
My friend jason howe suggested london based http://www.totalpix.co.uk/products/—using them he put together a great book fairly inexpensively of his recent Afghanistan work.
yet is there any US based company that anybody would recommend for affordable but nicely printed photo books?
any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Stupidly tried them all, Blurb is the cheapest, easiest for stupid people like me to make, and offers the most pages per book.
|
We’ve talked about Blurb, favorably, many times around here.

Here’s a link to the book folio I just made that might interest you. It’s an improved Lulu project. I’m very pleased.

if you have a mac I recommend iPhoto.
Create the book yourself: choose cover, size, shape, change layouts, background colors and other details very easily, then just press the button and it will be delivered in your place within few days… and the price is not too bad.

Blurb does a nice job. The book I just got ran a bit cyan/blue, though. Pages were very sharp.
I've heard good things about Lulu, and I'm giving it a try.

thank you gents, sincerely… always better to feel one has options…it sounds as if blurb is highly recommended. and you don’t get a recommendation from the holy see so often…
i do have a mac, but buried iphoto in the archives long ago. paulo, have you tried it yourself? was it “showman ship” printing quality?

ps paul. some great “woofer” stuff on the link. love the marilyn monroe esque woman crouched over her dog….

iScream iHate iPhoto iBooks. iCheap. iAvoid.

FastBack in Chelsea. Very nice product, super smart, friendly people. Run by a photographer. They’ve made books for myself, Teru, Jessica Dimmick, Darcy Padilla, Collin Finlay and many other fine photogs. check it

I have had a bad experience with Blurb, although the people at Blurb are very nice, the product is not suited for presentation and as other threads about Blurb stated, The quality is not consistent. It is a guess what your book will look like in the end. The software gives you the impression that it will look one way but the final product it is different.
