Photo desk email addresses

I’ve had a digitalrailroad archive for around 10 months and anm begining to relise that if I want to generate any income from it I have to do the leg work. Their marketplace Is not quite what it’s hyped up to be yet.
I need to approach DDR clients but I need their email addresses. I have found a great press photographer website that provides many UK photo editor contacts but nothing for the US.
Does anyone know of a decent listing?
Thanks

hi Nathaniel, mostly people buy lists here in the US, and swap names sometimes, can’t think of a site dedicated to listing email info, you can get names from mediabistro..what is the UK site address?

I would be suprised if it was buyable without being available for free.
A few of the addresses in the above site register as DDR client members so must be good, and therefore I can send them my DDR lightboxes.

oh, do you mean specifically email addresses of DRR photo editor clients?

by erica mcdonald | 24 Jan 2008 17:01 | New York, United States |
yes, but these would be the same addresses as the standard photo desk, or photo editor, in most cases. I’ve found around 25 photodesk email addesses on the web that correspond to ddr accounts. The ones that are not registered to ddr accounts are offered to create an account to view whatever I’ve sent them.

Nathaniel,

I tend to find that emailing them is about ask effective as .. well I dunno, it’s just not very effective. Then again, neither is ringing. Or faxing. Or turning up. Or maybe I am just shit :)

I’m based in China, have an online archive that is constantly being updated of images that are unlike most of the stuff you see of China. I want relevent press to be aware of this and the DDR marketplace does not really work as a promotional tool. Are there any ddr users that give some pointers?

Wade you are not S*!

I just got an email from the Alliance talking about

A/ The Bulletin’s closure

B/ The LA Times Editor getting sacked over budget considerations

And C/ The fact that Fairfax looks like its going on strike again about the fact they are trying to cut back wages on the regionals.

I think this is pointing to something don’t you?

And probably the quote of the week goes to the person who said,

’’This is the problem with bringing bankers in to own media companies’

The problem is and I used to joke about it ages ago, is that accountants with digital cameras are running the media.

Thats why there is so much crap journalism/photography/content out there, its because you get people with NO training and NO understanding reporting on issues that they should learn a bit more about before they dribble on about something they know NOTHING about!

Sorry I am just as fed up as the next person, I am just so sick of good people that know their stuff getting shafted ‘cos no-one wants to pay for content anymore.

Because some bloody accountant says that investing money in properly trained people is too expensive and that why can’t they just look up Wikipedia if they want to do research, or whatever.

The only theory to beat all of this is to start producing elitest news. Really, really quality stuff that no-one else can get and then making people pay to be part of some properly informed coffee clatch… I don’t know I’m outta ideas about how to market stuff now-a-days Nat!

It just seems no-one actually cares about the good stuff anymore…

Sorry guys I’m melting down this week!

Thats strange Lisa, I was looking at your website 2 days ago, some link from a survey of the the best designed photographer websites I think.
I agree. The best told stories end up in the gallery. The nature of a hyper saturated media has devalued the content and the extent to which we regard it, regardless of its inherit value.

Lisa, sounds like you could use a Kit Kat….http://motionographermedia.com/akama/akama_kk.mov

Er, ‘Funky’ love, I reckon there might be a bit more going on in that animation than just ‘Kit Kat’s!

I could say more, but they would probably ban me!

Happy er, Australia/Survival Day!

26/01 every year in Oz! Believe they always do Super Bowl on the same weekend!

Love this site, the amount you can teach people about your Kulture!
