PHOTO REQUEST - Katrina / Middle East
<!-StartFragment ->I am Photo Editing two books, and the client has me on a tight deadline to receive and review images.
Request Low Res Preview Jpegs (FOR REVIEW ONLY) via email or lightbox. Make sure images include photographer name, ID number, and Caption. Hi res files or transparencies will be requested for selected images.
NOTES: These books are for titles with single photographers already providing the bulk of the content. These requests are for pick-up / fill images.
So please, EDIT YOUR SUBMISSIONS TIGHTLY.
BOOK #1 Need images from Hurricane Katrina; I have a good number of images of the aftermath, so please limit these only to images you feel are exceptional.
(1) Need actual storm images, photo journalistic is great. Clouds, Wind, Rain, Water. With or without people, but NOT in your face portraits. No close-ups of dead floating bodies, please. Dramatic is good. Gore is bad. Images of the actual impact, and both in N.O. LA and other areas of Gulf Coast. Images of pre-storm preparations haven’t specifically asked for, but if you have an exceptional shot of empty city streets, the evacuation, people shoring up homes, send along a few of your very best.
(2) Would love to get a before and after (damage) series from same location.
(3) Need only one or two Gulf Coast establishing shots showing the beauty of the area before the storm. Submit only the best of the best. The shot should scream "The Beautiful Gulf Coast". No more than (4) of these types of shots per photographer. Bonus if you can tie this into the Before & After as noted above.
BOOK #2: Need images from the Middle East. Focus on People. Theme should center on "Hope within Conflict". Examples the client used are kids playing in a war torn area, A soldier on a tank with a nice sunset. – But please don’t limit yourself to these exact examples, but rather – use the theme of Hope within Conflict. Areas specific to the text are Iraq, Palestine, and Israel. Other areas are OK as long as they are more generic middle east pictures, i.e no smiling faces next to a towering hotel in Dubai. If you recall seeing the Amnesty International Calendars, that could be a good baseline guide.
