Photo series question..

Can you think of a body of work about (western/catholic) nuns/priests? What comes to mind are those images in the snow..playing outdoors, by Freed, also Abbas and HCB. What else? Any portraits as a series, more contemporary? (beyond mom Theresa)

What about Giacomelli?

Yes, me too: Giacomelli comes to my mind at first!
I love his work!
There is also a Dutch photographer, Annie van Gemert, who has done a series on Dutch monasteries in 2006:

look at “kloosters”, but it’s quite a ‘classical’ approach.

Here’s a wonderful Irish photographer, one of my favorites, whose first book was about one of the last silent order of nuns in Ireland. It was exquisite. I wish I’d bought it and am still on the look out for a copy to add to my collection.

Paul,

I was just reading your posts re: Lulu from exactly a year ago today: http://www.lightstalkers.org/best_print_on_demand_publisher

It would seem that Asuka is the way to go. Any thoughts a year later? I need to make portfolios/book maquettes to show around to editors/galleries.

there is a documentary, they screened it at the film forum one year ago, “Into Great Silence” by German filmmaker Philip Groning. It is a beautiful masterpiece about spirituality, it was filmed in Grande Chartreuse one of the world’s most ascetic monasteries, in the french Alpes. Highly recommended
