Photo Editor Job Opening

The Record in Stockton CA is looking for a photo editor. they are calling the position “Visuals Editor,” but you would be overseeing a staff of six photographers and calling the shots for the designers. if you are out there picture editing somewhere and want to make the jump to running a photo program, get in touch, there is a ton of potential here. Stockton is a great news town, and with the right leadership, this photo department could do great things. here is the job post:
Job Description: VISUALS EDITOR This editor will supervise the photo and graphics departments. A key element of this job is to work with editors and staffs from all sections to develop images that complement and enhance content for both print and online. This includes graphics and alternate storytelling formats. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of professional experience in photojournalism, graphics or news design.

Stockton is just far enough from the San Francisco Bay area to not be so freaking expensive to live in. However, it’s an easy trip from there to SF. There are people living in Stockton who commute to SF every day. If you’ve ever thought about living near SF but without the expense this would be a good move. I worked at San Jose Mercury for 11 years and this area is great fun to work in.
