i’m trying to get back some photos that have diasppeared and wondering if anyone has gone through this. it’s not an ultra card, jsut a regular blue one. when i goto san disk’s site there’s a page about data recovery, but when i try to download their program all they try to do is sell me another card. any ideas?????

so, if i might update my own post, there are a couple of options. firstly, sandisk does not make it easy to find their rescue software, but here’s the link:
http://www.lc-tech.com/buynow/rescueprobuynow.html
it’s 40 dollars but if you buy one to the better cards (stupid me, i didn’t) i hear it comes bundled with that card. will investigate tomorrow.
additionally, this seems to be a fairly universal program for data recovery and it pulled everything up just fine:

it too is 40. the benefit it seems of this program is that you don’t need any dedicated card readers (ie jumpshot for lexar and whatever san disk has) right now it read everyting off my firewire connection and the pix are there, however in order to pull them off the card the 40$ upgrade is needed.

hey that would be great, sending pm now. many thanks

Jake, I use software called photorescue wizard. I think it’s $25. works very well in my experience.

Just bought a new Lexar card and it had free recovery software included on the card. You could always buy a another card to get the software. The software worked the one time I tested it, even on a card that wasn’t Lexar…

Jake, I got the program (RescuePro) when I bought my new 4G sandisk card. I tried it once to see what it can do and it recovered photos that it took me a while to remember them!

Guilad- interesting post- are you saying that you are sending him the software? and announcing that fact here in a public board? wow

jsut used photorescue and it got everything back….and yes also there was about 8 additional gigs of stuff it also recovered, which leads me to believe that the cards they’re selling us are actually capable of holding a lot more than they say. thanks all, j

Use Photorecovery for Digital Media version 3.5.2.7. It’s the business.

Here is a good recovery tool and it is FREE. It worked for me when the shop accidently deleted my 1G card. It was a bit slow, an all night job, but it got there, so you will need a card reader. www.convar.com find their pcinspector smart recovery.
