place to stay in Perpignian
|
Hello… I am planing to go to Perpignian this year. I am looking for a place to stay and I am wondering if somebody of you have a one free place in the room (Is somebody looking for a roommate?). I am planing to stay there for about 3 or 4 nights during professional week (1-7th Sept 2008).
I have no idea where to stay… all advices are very welcome (Is there some place where you can sleep in a tent?). I am a bit lost because I am going there first time.
Thank you,
Aga

Aga, if you have a car or a moto, you can find places in nearby villages, some only about a ten-minute drive.
Otherwise, you’re in the same position as the rest of us (myself included). I did find a Web reference to a hostel in center Perpignan with beds at 14 Euros per night.

Aga, ask Sarah Van den Elsken or Wendy Marijnissen..

Aga:
send a PM to my friend (and LS member) Arantxa Cedillo

I am looking for a place to stay in Perpignan as well. This will also be my first visit to Visa. Do you need a roommate?

Aga and others still searching for Perpignan accommodations. Finding a place now will be very difficult. The best advice I can give is get to Perpignan and check some of the hotels/hostels near the train station. They are cheap, but not necessarily beautiful. I stayed at one a few years ago for a few nights with some other photographers. They room we stayed in had the sink and shower next to the beds. And it was very hot. If still no luck, then just start asking everybody at the Pams and the main Congress center. Also ask the people at the various agency booths. Sometimes their own photographers are looking to share a place. Hope to meet you there this year. Good luck. Dean

I’m also looking for myself and a friend, thanks for the advice Dean. Neal, are there any busses or cabs that can get to the towns that you mentioned?

I don’t know about buses for this. I understood that there is a bus from the beach town Canet to Perpignan, though i have been told that it stops with the end of August.
You might want to check here to see some places and call the proprieteurs to see if there is any public transportation to and from Perpgnan.

Accommodation in Perpignan is very difficult to find during the pro week but not impossible. I usually book a year in advance and so do some of my friends. Having said that I do know that people just drive into Perpignan and find places to stay – basically dorm style accommodation. There are buses but not many i guess. Cabs yes, expensive.
If you have your own/rented car then you can easily find places to stay in the nearby places. Perpignan tourism has a website that has all this detail.
