I graduated from the University of Montana in 2006 with a degree in photojournalism and a minor in studio art. I grew up in Middleton, Wisconsin, just outside of Madison, then after spending five years of college skiing and photographing in the Rocky Mountain west, I took to the global stage with a job from Rustic Pathways.

I am currently an associate director of the international teen travel company. I keep myself busy as I gallavant around the globe, but try to freelance a bit on the side. Past clients have included Paddler Magazine, New West Network, NewsCom, Powder Magazine and Montana Journalism Review. If you’re in Asia, chances are I am as well, splitting my year with about 8 months overseas and 4 months back stateside. Please have a look at my gallery and website, which is at: travelingbythelens.com. If you are interested in work from the areas I am in, please email me at: scott.poniewaz@gmail.com.

Thanks for looking around!

Dates: Approximately June 1-August 25, 2008

Description: Rustic Pathways offers the world’s finest international high school service, adventure and foreign language programs. Our destinations stretch from the white sand beaches of Fiji to the rainforest canopies of Costa Rica, the high Himalaya to the Great Barrier Reef, and many points in between. As the leader in our industry, we are seeking exceptional staff members to fill summer positions from Divemasters in the South Pacific to surf instructors in Baja, administrative staff in Asia to mountaineers in Africa, community service coordinators in Peru to foreign language instructors in China. To familiarize yourself with our destinations and programs, please visit www.rusticpathways.com for more exciting job ideas!

Specifically related to Lightstalkers, we are also hiring photography staff for our programs that operate across SE Asia.

All applicants are subject to drug testing and background checks and must provide strong, verifiable references. Extensive first-aid training, world travel experience, a background in guiding, experience working with teens, and local language knowledge are often skills of successful applicants and leaders. However, our wide-range of available opportunities requires a variety of skill sets.

Rustic Pathways will provide travel from your home city to your employment location, all work related trip travel, associated room and board costs, and a stipend that is determined on your level of experience and paid upon completion of the summer employment period.

For an application, instructions on applying, and more information about Rustic Pathways, please visit www.rusticpathways.com/employment. Competition for these positions is keen and we advise you to apply early as we fill these positions as qualified applicants arise. Please draft your cover letter with an understanding of the programs we run and note if you have certain skills that you feel may pertain to specific positions.
