NYT: 2 Recent Storms Show Forests Help Blunt Hurricanes’ Force

I found this article interesting and thought to share with our group. To summarize de-forestation as a contributing and/or compounding factor to recent hurricanes Felix and Henriette (?)decimation. Same was cited in Haiti – deforestation transformed the earth into flowing mud rivers washing away everything in it’s path. The earth had nothing left to hold onto – roots, trees, flowers, plants.
