I’m a little confused about the dates for eligible photos for this contest.  The website says Jan. 2004- Dec. 2005.  But on the 2005 Winners List, there are definitely images on there taken in 2004.

I’ve emailed them to clarify, but am wondering if anyone knows anything more specfic?

I’m guessing calendar year 2005 only, but will post their response if I get one.

I also wondered about that but thought it was clear…..bummer i have just spent 2 hours working on some images from 2004.
Has anyone been able to fill in the PDF application form they have provided? It has been partly filled in with a guide entry but I cannot use the form in the normal PDF way! Any thoughts?

Good luck to all you guys entering.

Well, just when we thought we had that all cleared up, I received this response from the contest organizers:

Dear Stefan,

Thank you for being interested in DYAS Photojournalism Awards.

As for your question, yes, it is correct that photos must be taken

between January 2004 and December 2005.

when they say 15 entries, are stories considered one total entry?

by [former member] | 11 Jan 2006 21:01 | New York, United States | | Report spam→
15 images total I believe

by Nayan Sthankiya | 11 Jan 2006 21:01 | Seoul, Korea (South) | | Report spam→
yes… 15 in TOTAL…. suppose if u have 10 images in a story… then u can put another 5 singles… 10+5=15

by Altaf Qadri | 14 Jan 2006 04:01 | Kashmir, India | | Report spam→
The above is not true! It is 15 images in 1 story so 1 story counts as 1 entry. you can have a maximum of 15 images in a series/story. Simillar to World Press but 15 instead of 12 in a story. If you could only put a maximum of 15 images thats a bit restrictive when there is 2 years of work that could be potentially entered…ie 2004-2005!
If in doubt email them for clarification although it’s nearing deadline day.

As far as I understand, and based on an email I just received from DAYS JAPAN, it is 15 images total regardless of how many stories you send it.  I too thought, as Mark did, that each story is 1 entry.  But it is not.  I just received an email from DAYS JAPAN telling me that my 3 story entries with 15 images each was not acceptable.  I had to redo the entry and send 1 story with 12 images, and 3 singles.  Asim

Look at "Submission Requirements" on the front page of the Days Japan website, it’s pretty clear:

"Number of photos: participants can submit under multiple themes as long as the total number of photos remains limited to 15"

Hi colegas. I send today by mail my pictures but, because Japan is sooo far, i tried to send the pictures and entry form by e-mail. Don´t work cause the e-mail of Days Japan is full. If something of you found other adress to send the pictures please get me an advise thru this place. Good luck to all, hope some lightstalkers get a place in this competition.

so fellow procrastinators: don’t panic!

Hi Guys

I apologise if I gave the wrong information. I already sent my entry with 3 stories & 2 single images. I read the entry requirements several times & I suppose I convinced myself about the number of images allowed. I cannot believe that there is potentially 2 years worth of work that you can enter but are restricted to 15 images.

Oh well Good luck to all that have entered & maybe I will get my eyes tested when I get home!

kikaku@daysjapan.net only takes emails smaller than 5M, so you’ll have to be sending pretty small pics. The CD is in the post, right?

I just recieved this from the the organisers….

Dear Mark,

Thank you for your entry to our photo awards.

I would like you to reduce the number of the pictures to 15.

You may enter 15 images in total.

Please let me know which photos you want to keep as soon as possible.

Ryosuke Niizuma

Good luck all & again sorry if I gave wrong info.
