Hello. Anyone have experience with the 35 1.4 voigtlander? I am thinking begin to save some money to upgrade my 35 2.5 for a summicron or the 1.4 voigtlander. Since the last include is more cheap and i can buy it new become a real choice for my empty pockets. many thanks

I use the 40mm 1.4 Nokton Classic and it is ok, not great but ok. They are well made lenses and get the job done but they are not as good wide open as say a Leica lens or Canon. Also, the focus is rather stiff but that could be because it is brand new.
Well this bother me, i mean if they are not so good wide open. Thanks Juan. Equal i will have to sell some pics extra and my actual lens to get the money. Mmm, don’t know if will be a good deal.
so, no more users of the 35 1.4 voigtlander that want to share their experiences?
haven’t used the 35 1.4, but had the 28/1.8 and it was a really good lens. tried other voigtländers too and was always happy with them considering the price. so is price the factor, just by it, try it, if you’re happy, then keep it. if not it’s always possible to get it sold again on ebay or so…
you could also ask the rangefinder geeks at www.rangefinderforum.com about this stuff, they have an insane amount of detailed info about everything rf.
happy hunting;)
Many thanks Marius. I have a 21 f4 and i am very very happy with this voigtlander. I have a 35 2.5 too but i would really like to try the 1.4 thing but i am afraid of the flare with the big glass. I will check rangerfinder forum. Saludos

I never used the lens, but I was interested in it. I was trying to find some reviews and asked people they own it. Sean Reid has paid review site with very good reviews and he tested 4 samples of the Nokton. Conclusion was that the lens is good at full aperture and stopped down to f/5.6 and smaller. From f/2 to f/4 the focus shift is evident and it’s not related to sample variation. However the test has been done on M8 and on film the lens will probably behave better (which has been confirmed by owner I know).
i use it on my M4-2 and its a nice lens, on slide its good from 2.8-11, with grainy film ; you can shoot wide open.
at best aperture (5.6-11) ist not as sharp as the 35mm f2 on my Hexar AF.
flare is not really a problem
i think flare is a big problem on his lens..sharpness here is ok

Is there some comparison between flare on both lenses (MC and SC)? Also, is the difference between the lenses even noticeable? I am going to shoot mainly TriX (as long as it is in production) and do not really know what to choose. Most people on the internet use SC and are very satisfied…
Hi David. I am curious too. I can told you that I am very happy with the simple Voigtlander 35 2.5, what scary me about the comments about the 1.4 was shift focus between 1.4 and more close diaphragm. I read some of this comments over the Carls Zeiss 35 1.4 that I suppose is a great lens but is not found anymore in my close markets.
