Leica just announced 4 new M lenses with an aperture of 2.5
LEICA SUMMARIT-M 35 mm f/2.5
LEICA SUMMARIT-M 50 mm f/2.5
LEICA SUMMARIT-M 75 mm f/2.5
LEICA SUMMARIT-M 90 mm f/2.5

75 & 90 both look like terrific, small “travel” lenses. NOW if Leica would come out with a full frame M9 digital and make the M8 a bit more affordable…..then things would be really good. (I’m not holding my breath waiting).

re: my above comments……I said “really good”. GREAT would be if they’d come out with a 21mm or 24mm Summicron f2.0 or Summilux 1.4. Wouldn’t a 21mm f1.4 be a gas?

So that makes no fewer than five 50mm lenses. I wonder if they’re going to drop one of the others – the Elmar perhaps. P.

Are they compatible with the M6? I’m in the market for a 35 and this one looks sweet.

Yes, but it will be a few months before they hit the stores.
