A matter of film
|
Has anyone ever had film shipped from NY to Europe before?
The price of bulk in Europe or especially London is high and was flirting with the option. It would be 120 and 35 at 160-800.

wassup J-unit.
My guess is that between shipping costs, the chance of the film being destroyed by high-dose cargo X-rays, and the possibility of getting hit by taxes/duties at customs, doing your own export/import would not be worth it.
One possible use for LS is if people who are traveling light, with a little lead time on their flights, can volunteer to courier a package for members in the destination country.
ie: “Im heading for london from new york next week, anyone need a delivery?”

I don’t think Fed-Ex nukes your packages. Try calling them up though and tell them you’re shipping pro film.

heya Johan — agreed — I don’t think Fed-Ex nukes film — I’ve been fed-exing film internationally as recently as a few weeks ago (although I generally send film in an lead-lined X-ray bag, and mark the package as: “exposed film – no X-ray” ) – but mos definately, if the point is to save money on the cost of film, fed-exing will end up being more expensive.

Damn dude— just arrived in London yesterday from New York. I could have hooked you up. I guess that’s pretty useless information now. And yet I still hit the post button.
