Advise for getting to Cuba from PAP

I’ll be in Haiti for a couple of weeks in May and I’m looking to add a side trip to Havana. I’m looking for advise about flying in directly from Port-au-Prince — I’m using the new Jet Blue FLL-PAP route to Haiti from the US, so Santo Domingo is not an attractive option.

Any recommendations for lodging in Hanava would also be appreciated.

Aerocaribbean has flights from PAP to Havana and Santiago.
I haven’t tried it yet, but I think is about $600 return. And I imagine you cannot pay using a US credit card (because of the embargo).

Yikes! That’s pretty steep, if accurate. That’s more than my RT flight from the US to PAP. I’ve tried to get a fare quote from the Aerocaribbean website without luck.

Better to call and check. Otherwise, you could catch a bus to Dominican Republic and fly from there. A bit cheaper from there, probably.
