Kindly pass this invitation on to anyone who may be interested.
Many news stories out of Afghanistan cover the ongoing insurgency and
hardships of war, but few tell of how people are rebuilding in war’s
aftermath. These photo exhibits and special events explore this other
side of Afghanistan. Please join us at the multimedia showings for a

Dear friends and colleagues:
Just wanted to pass on a reminder that the AFGHAN STORIES opening reception and one-time multimedia presentation will be this weekend, on Sunday, November 2nd. The reception begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by a multimedia show and discussion at 5 p.m.
To clarify for some who were confused: the location of the exhibit is at the Griffin Museum’s satellite gallery located at 395 Main St. in Stoneham, MA (next to the Stoneham Theatre), not to be confused with the Griffin Museum itself whose prime location is in Winchester. Please see links below for full information. And don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour to adjust for the change from daylight savings time on Sunday.
If you are in or near the Boston area, please join us for a lively event. If you can’t make it but would like to see the work, there is a link to an exhibit web gallery below.
Kindly pass this invitation on to anyone who might be interested. I hope to see some of you in Stoneham!

The Atelier Gallery at the Stoneham Theatre
Photographs by Paula Lerner
October 23 – November 22
On display in the Griffin Museum’s Atelier Gallery at the Stoneham Theatre from October 23 through November 22, the exhibit explores another side of Afghanistan and shows a world that has been largely unknown or closed to Western observers. The exhibit runs parallel with the theater’s production of How Many Miles to Basra?
Opening Reception with the Artist at the Stoneham Theatre, 395 Main St., Stoneham, Massachusetts, Sunday, November 2, 4:30PM in the Atelier Gallery at the Stoneham Theatre, followed by a multimedia presentation at 5PM in the Stoneham Theatre. Both are open to the public and free.
The Griffin Museum’s Atelier Gallery at the Stoneham Theatre is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 1-6 p.m., and one hour before each theater performance. The gallery can be accessed through the Stoneham Theatre’s lobby at 395 Main Street in Stoneham, MA.
Wish I could make it up there but I have to work that evening. Sorry I’ll miss the multimedia. Any chance you’ll be in Cambridge, MA, with the multimedia presentation in the coming weeks?
Thanks for the note, but sorry you can’t make it. Some of the multimedia is on line, you can see the piece I did in collaboration with the washingtonpost.com here:
or also here if the above wraps funny in your browser:
I will be presenting other pieces in addition to The Women of Kabul, but they are not published yet.
The show will be up in the Atelier Gallery in Stoneham until Nov. 22nd, if you’re in that neighborhood.
This will be the fifth time I have given this presentation in the Boston area since the beginning of 2008, and at this point I don’t have another venue to present it again unless I get an invitation. The print exhibit is booked in January at a girl’s school in Hingham, MA, so I probably will be doing the presentation again there, but I’m not sure if it will be open to the public.
If you or others would like to be on my email list for announcements about future events, send me a note to email@example.com.
Thanks again for your interest.
