Agency Zuma

Ok, I’ve tried over and over again to get Zuma and Scott McKiernan to purge his server and stop selling my photographs, 5 years after my contract ended. I’ve sent many emails to them and got no response from them. Every once in a while I search Google and again today I come up with another sale with my name on it, a continuing blatant disregard for copyright and I’ve never received payment for anything. I really don’t want to resort to a lawyer, times are hard enough. So here I am putting this up for discussion on Lightstalkers, anybody out there want to talk about this and other examples? Thanx.

I am afraid there isn’t anything to be (constructively) discussed here, you’ll have eventually to assign this to a lawyer, with or without LS discussion.
However, it would be easier if you had addressed this one the very first moment you noticed it happening.
Five years is a long time to wait for something to be changed from Zuma part and it could be officially considered as nonchalance from your part.

With all respect,
good luck

Sorry Jonnek I happen to disagree, there’s plenty to discuss about agency, copyright and non payment especially from a high profile agency. And as far as “nonchalance” over the last several years I have done everything possible to get them to stop, short of hiring a lawyer, which costs money I don’t have and they have lot’s of. If you don’t want to discuss this on this forum I can understand. I thought the lightstalkers community might be interested in how they run their business. When you have an 8000 picture archive appropriated by some entity one day, I hope others aren’t so cold about it, nothing personal. If I can’t privately shame them, then if this is not the place to do it, so be it and I apologize to anybody who might be offended. If anybody has something to add and are nervous about talking here, they can contact me privately. Thanx again.

I really have to add that the lightstalkers community is a place to air our concerns, I’ve read many posts since the start addressing all sorts of distressing issues. This should be an important issue to many, and I think that it is “constructive” to discuss this, and this is my point, I may not be the only one in this position? If this is not the place to discuss important issues then what’s the point?

I am not saying that this isn’t an important issue, you took it totally wrong.
On the contrary, I think this is VERY important and thats why I ended up with the idea that a conversation here is not going to make any difference.
To tell the truth I am against “pop corn post extensions” and I thought this one is going to be evolved this way, since your initial post about
discussing such a serious matter here doesn’t leave much room for various (and yes, constructive) opinions, except the one which includes the lawyer.
I really hope I get eventually wrong and someone will find an economical solution for you, through discussion.

Also, what I mentioned about the possibility that you could be considered as nonchalance, is not the point of view of mine (I thought that this was kind
of obvious) but on what an official procedure could ended to.

Have you checked if there is a possibility to find a lawyer who is going to be payed by an association-organization or something?
For example here in Germany there are such solutions, where the service department-organization-ministration which is responsible for journalists
is obligated to bear the lawyer costs for a matter that is obviously not your fault.

Good luck again.
