Annual Photography Issue, Call for Entries

Greetings from Hong Kong, All—

We are very excited to announce the theme of the annual photography issue of Cathay Pacific’s in-flight magazine, Discovery.

The theme of this year’s issue is DECORATION, which we hope will invite a wide range of submissions. We would like to fully explore the various ways in which we choose to decorate our lives, and encourage a variety of interpretations, but are especially interested in the areas of fashion, food, architecture, interiors, festivals, and gifts. While body art will certainly be represented, we ask that pictures of tattoos be submitted very selectively.

We invite photographers in all genres all over the world to contribute. All submissions must be received no later than 2 October, 2006.

Submission guidelines:

Please send CD’s, slides (duplicates) or prints to:

Please send files in RGB if possible.

Please send images with credit/caption information attached either as a word document or in “file info.”

Payment: Due to a limited budget we are only able to pay $200 USD (regardless of size) per image. It is, however, a wonderfully designed showcase of photography and we hope you will excited to be a part of it.

Many thanks,

That time of year again. Last year’s edition was brilliant. I was thrilled to be a part of it. I’m going to try again this year. Thanks.

Hi Maisie, you forgot to mention what happens with the rejected images – since you ask directly for high res pics, just for a first selection.

I personally would like to send pictures by some of our photographers, but I also question the need for sending hi-res images for selection. The only people I send hi-res images to right away are dailies or whenever the deadline is so tight there’s no time to spare. But otherwise we send low res comps and only provide hi-res once at least a preliminary selection has been made. Maisie, can you elaborate on your need to have hi-res up front?

Subhamoy, she posted a reply already as a seperate thread… i think it’s on the second page by now. She explains that she can accept lowres jpeg’s too.

Just wanted to bump this back up to the top. Last year’s issue was terrific. We should make this one brilliant too.
